From Your First Call
to Long-Term Stability
We keep the process simple and move quickly — because housing crises don't wait for paperwork. Here is what to expect at every stage, and who will be walking alongside you.
The Path to Housing Stability
Every household's journey is different, but the steps are consistent: a quick, no-barrier intake; an honest assessment; access to the right service; and ongoing support to make sure it sticks.
See All ServicesInitial Contact
Reach us by phone (555-555-5555), email, or drop in to our Halifax office at 1425 Hollis Street. No referral is needed, no ID is required to make first contact, and no appointment is necessary during drop-in hours. We speak English, French, and Arabic.
Needs Assessment
A housing worker will spend 20–30 minutes with you in a private, confidential setting. We want to understand your current housing situation, any immediate safety concerns, income and benefit status, and what barriers you've faced. This conversation is non-judgmental — there are no wrong answers and nothing you share will be used against you.
Housing Match & Access
Based on your assessment, we connect you to the right program: emergency placement (same-day), transitional housing unit (based on availability), rent bank funds (within 48 hours), or a housing navigator for permanent rental search. In many cases, people can access more than one service simultaneously — your worker will coordinate everything.
Stability & Follow-Up
Being housed is not the end of our work — it's the beginning of stability. For transitional housing residents, weekly case management is built in. For emergency and rent bank clients, we schedule check-ins at 3, 6, and 12 months after placement. We connect you to income support, healthcare, mental health, and employment resources, and we're here if circumstances change.
