One-time gifts and monthly giving are both deeply valued. Monthly donors provide the predictable revenue that helps us plan and expand our programs.

What Your Gift Does

Every dollar we receive is directed to programs that keep people housed. Here is how four gift amounts translate into direct action in Halifax-Dartmouth.

$50

Covers intake support

Staff time to conduct a full needs assessment and service match for one individual or family reaching out in a housing crisis.

$150

Funds navigation services

One week of housing search assistance for a client — preparing applications, sourcing listings, writing references, and advocating with landlords.

$500

Prevents an eviction

Covers nearly half a typical rent bank grant, bridging the gap between financial hardship and housing security for a family in our community.

$1,000

Funds a full rent bank grant

Covers a complete rent bank intervention — rent arrears paid, eviction stopped, family stabilized, and a follow-up plan in place.

Leave a Lasting Legacy

A bequest, charitable gift annuity, or life insurance policy directed to Threshold Housing Society is one of the most meaningful gifts a donor can make. Legacy gifts help us plan for the future and continue our work for generations to come. All planned gift conversations are handled with complete confidentiality.

In-Kind Donations

We gratefully accept in-kind donations that support our transitional housing residents and our operations. Here is what we need most.

Furniture & Household Items

Beds, bedding, kitchen supplies, and small appliances for our transitional housing units. Must be in good, clean condition. Contact us before dropping off.

Gift Cards

Grocery gift cards (Sobeys, Superstore) and transit passes for clients in crisis or transitional housing. All denominations accepted.

Professional Services

Pro bono legal advice, accounting, translation, photography, and design services support our work and our clients' needs. Reach out to discuss.

Move-In Assistance

Volunteers or access to a truck for move-in days when clients transition from our properties to permanent housing. Coordinated in advance.

Security Deposits

A security deposit contribution is often the final barrier between a client and their own apartment. Even a partial contribution can unlock housing.

Volunteer Time

Administrative help, event support, fundraising, and move-in crews. Email volunteer@example.com to discuss available roles.
