Volunteer Opportunities
Open Studio does not run without volunteers. We need help in the studio, at events, and behind the scenes.
- Studio Assistant
- Welcome participants, restock supplies, and keep Open Studio running smoothly, four to eight hours a week; we train you, and no arts background is needed.
- Event Support
- Set up, run, and pack down events, from mural unveilings to the annual fundraiser; a good fit if you can only help now and then.
- Grant Writing and Admin
- Research and write grants, manage data, or help with communications on a project basis; experience with Canadian arts or nonprofit grants is a bonus.
- Youth Mentorship Co-facilitator
- Coordinate logistics, accompany participants to exhibitions, and connect young artists with resources in Edmonton's arts community, three to five hours a month.
- Mural Co-painter
- Join community painting days from spring through fall; we provide training, materials, and lunch, and no experience is needed.
- Digital Support
- Photography, social media, website updates, or video editing, on your own schedule.

Supplies, Equipment & Space
We accept donated art supplies, camera equipment, computers, and other materials that support our programs. We can also use a donated meeting room or event space for workshops outside the studio.
Most needed right now: acrylic and oil paints, canvas, printmaking inks, sketchbooks, DSLR cameras and lenses, and portable lighting.

A gift in your will keeps the studio open after you are gone. Bequests of any size go to the same things as every other gift: artist stipends, free materials, and rent.
