$20 covers the cost of all supplies for one Open Studio session — brushes, paints, paper, and canvas for everyone who comes through the door that day.
Help Us Keep the Door Open
Your Support
Makes Art Possible.
Lantern Arts runs on community generosity and public grants. Every dollar goes directly toward artist stipends, free materials, and keeping the studio doors open — every single day.
Choose Your Impact
Every amount makes a real difference. We've framed these tiers in terms of what your donation actually enables — because your money has a direct, tangible effect on the people in our programs.
$35/month provides all the materials a young artist needs for a full month of participation in our programs — paints, brushes, canvases, notebooks, and film.
$75/month helps cover one full week of studio overhead — utilities, insurance, maintenance, and the small costs that keep a 3,500 sq ft space open daily.
$150/month sponsors one full month of the Youth Mentorship program for one participant — facilitator time, studio access, materials, and exhibition costs.
$500 covers the materials budget for one month of an artist residency — canvas, lumber, specialty paints, photography supplies, or whatever the resident is making.
$1,200 fully covers one month of the Elder-in-Residence stipend — honouring an Indigenous elder's time, knowledge, and contribution to our community.
Donate to a Specific Program
Want your donation to go directly to a program you care about? We honour directed gifts. Here's how your support maps to each program.
Open Studio
Keeps the lights on, the shelves stocked with supplies, and the doors open every day of the week. The most direct way to make art accessible.
Youth Mentorship
Supports the 16-week pairing program, mentor honoraria, exhibition costs, and materials for young artists aged 14–24.
Elder Circle
Honours Elder-in-Residence stipends and the Elder Circle weekly sessions — ensuring that traditional knowledge and art forms are shared with the next generation.
Mural Program
Funds community consultation, exterior paints, scaffolding rentals, and fair-wage stipends for community co-painters on each mural project.
Writing & Storytelling
Supports facilitator fees, printing and distribution of the annual community anthology, and materials for writing workshop participants.
Film & Photography
Funds equipment maintenance and upgrades, film stock, digital editing software licenses, and facilitator honoraria for the Film & Photography program.
The Most Powerful Thing You Can Do is Show Up Every Month.
Monthly donors are the backbone of our operating budget. Because we can count on your support, we can plan programming, hire facilitators, and keep the studio stocked — without scrambling for grants every three months. Tax receipts issued via CanadaHelps.
Monthly gifts can be changed or cancelled anytime. No lock-in, no fees.

Volunteer Opportunities
We couldn't run Open Studio without our volunteers. We're always looking for people to help in the studio, at events, and behind the scenes. Email volunteer@lanternarts.ca to get started.
Studio Assistant
Help keep the Open Studio running smoothly — welcoming participants, restocking supplies, and supporting the studio atmosphere. Training provided; no arts background required.
Event Support
Help set up, run, and break down Lantern events — from mural unveilings to the annual fundraiser. Great for one-time or occasional involvement.
Grant Writing & Admin
Support our small team with grant research and writing, data management, or communications. Particularly valuable if you have experience with arts or nonprofit grant applications in Canada.
Youth Mentorship Co-facilitator
Support the Youth Mentorship program by helping coordinate logistics, accompanying participants to exhibitions, and connecting young artists to resources in the Edmonton arts community.
Mural Co-painter
Join the community painting days for the Mural Program — no experience necessary. We provide training, materials, and a lot of good food. Outdoors, spring through fall.
Digital Support
Photography, social media, website updates, or video editing. If you have skills in any of these areas and want to support community arts, we'd love to hear from you.
Supplies, Equipment & Space
We gratefully accept donations of art supplies, camera equipment, computers, and other materials that support our programs. We can also accept donated meeting or event space for programming outside our studio.
Most-needed items currently: acrylic and oil paints, canvas, printmaking inks, sketchbooks, DSLR cameras and lenses, and portable lighting equipment.
